How I can reduce my water waste ~ Sina

I think that I can reduce my water waste, by washing the dishes by hand instead of using a dishwasher. Because our dishwasher cycle lasts for 2 hours and 26 minutes, So I think that it might be able to save some water.  I think having shorter showers or just making sure the tap is off and not running when it doesn't need to be.

Character strengths and what I've experienced - Sina

Kindness - I think that showing kindness is definitely good because if you show positivity and tolerance you have good friends and let people know that you are proud of them. It also helps you get connections which are good in many jobs because you can never go wrong with connections. Being kind is definitely something that is taken for granted because people think that power = money. But if your rich in kindness it can get you to many places.

Humour - In one of my modules called Adrenaline we had a mini amazing race and it was around kayaking. We had four people in each team, two in the canoe and one on each kayak. We had to go 100m down the river and then come back to where we started and we had to swap place and the two people in the kayaks had to go to the canoe and the people in the canoe had to swap into the kayaks. When we swapped we were trying to adjust things and when we turned around we saw one of our teammates being carried away by the current because he didn't know how to kayak. So I started laughing and it was just a funny experience that definitely took a lot of stress of our team's shoulders.

Fairness - When we were playing volleyball for social volleyball the other team served and I jumped to touch it and it went out. The ref wasn't sure if I touched it, I didn't want our team to lose a point but I didn't want to lie/cheat so I told the truth and the point went to the team we were versing.

What I think is my best piece of work from the first four weeks of this year ~ Sina Finau

I picked this piece of writing to be my best work because it took me a long time and it really made me think and I kept on re-crafting it which made me think hard and made me learn more informative words and use emotive language to show how I felt towards the poem. I think that I did well with this piece of writing being able to share my opinion and show opinions other people might be feeling. I also enjoyed writing this because we aren't given a lot of opportunities to write pieces like this, so this was new to me but it was a fun experience.

6 facts about the Polish refugees in New Zealand ~ Sina

1) In 1943 Prime Minister Peter Fraser invited a group of Polish children to New Zealand for the duration of the war. - I think this is interesting because back then I would think that war and selfishness would have taken over people but it's good to hear that we had good in our hearts.

2) Most of the refugees chose to settle in New Zealand after the war. Relatives joined some in the late 1940s, while a small number returned to Poland - I find it interesting that after everything they had been through I am surprised that they decided to go back home I would think if they had family they would bring them to a better and safer country.

3) While most of the former soldiers joined free Polish forces fighting on the Allied side - I would be terrified and scared to stand up for my country, so I find it interesting that they came back into forces to fight for their country

4) A camp for the children – dubbed ‘Little Poland’ – was established near Pahīatua in Wairarapa - I think that it is interesting that out of all places in NZ they picked their camp to be there well I guess it makes sense because they are all together

5) Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 prompted Joseph Stalin to send over 120,000 Polish prisoners to Iran, where they languished in refugee camps - That is a lot of people to send over to Iran, especially holding them as prisoners, now the number of people that came to NZ seems much smaller then the prisoners they sent over to Iran.

6) Over 800 people were sent to NZ - It might not be interesting for most people but I find it interesting of how big the number of people they brang, I feel happy that NZ was welcoming to them
